What Flashines is
Flashines is a Chrome extension that gives you an AI verdict on a YouTube video before you open it. Click the flash chip under any video in your feed or in search results, and it reads the video's transcript and answers the title right there: the actual answer for a "Why..." video, YES / NO / DEPENDS for "Is it worth it?", the numbered steps for a "How to", the real list for a "5 things...", and a three point gist for everything else. It also flags when the title promises more than the video delivers.
No new tab, no twenty minutes spent finding out the video was not worth it. It runs on a free hosted beta with a limited number of seats and a monthly verdict quota, and no API key is needed. You can also switch it to your own API keys on the options page, in which case nothing passes through a Flashines server at all. The exact data flow in both modes is in the privacy policy.
Who builds it
Flashines is built by Stanislav Bruch, a growth marketer based in Prague, Czech Republic, who builds small tools on the side. It is a one person side project, not a company: no team, no investors, no support desk. More about him at sbruch.com (in Czech).
That also means the honest expectations: replies usually come within a few days, and bugs get fixed when there is an evening for them. If something is broken for you, saying so is genuinely useful. The free beta exists precisely to find out what does not work.
How to reach him
Write about anything: a bug, a video where the verdict was wrong, a feature you miss, a question about privacy or data, or press and partnerships. If the free beta is full, the waitlist on the extension's options page is the faster route to a seat, because that is the list the proxy actually notifies.
For a bug report, these three things save a round trip:
- The link to the video where it happened.
- Which mode you run: free beta (the default) or your own keys.
- What you expected, and what appeared instead. A screenshot is ideal.
Privacy or data questions can go to the same address. Nothing you send here is added to any mailing list.
Also useful
- flashines.com, how it works, what you get, and pricing.
- Privacy policy, exactly what data leaves your browser in each mode.
- The Chrome Web Store listing, where reviews and ratings also reach him.
