Read the video before you watch it.

Flashines puts a flash icon on every video in your YouTube feed. Click it and you get the answer, the steps or the verdict in about a second. Without opening the video.

Works on the YouTube home feed. Bring your own API key. No account.

How it works

Three steps, one second.

The extension only ever sends the video id, the title and the channel. The transcript fetch and the model call both run in the background worker with your own keys.

01

Click the flash chip

Flashines adds a small ⚡ Flash chip under the byline of every video in the home feed. Nothing else on YouTube moves.

Flash

02

The transcript gets read

The full transcript goes to a small fast model with an instruction that depends on what the title is actually asking.

03

The answer streams in

A verdict, the steps, or the list, in the language spoken in the video. Then you decide: watch it, or move on.

Worth it?YES

What you get

Every title is a question. You get its answer.

“Is it worth it?”

Yes, no or depends, plus the two reasons the reviewer actually gave.

“How to do X”

The numbered steps, in order, without the intro and the sponsor read.

“5 things you need…”

The actual five items. No counting down for eleven minutes.

Anything else

A three point gist so you know what the video really covers.

Pricing

Free for the first 50 users.

One plan while Flashines is young. You bring your own API key, so the only cost is fractions of a cent per verdict, billed by your provider and never by us.

FAQ

The obvious questions.

Why do I need my own API key?

Because there is no Flashines server in the middle. Your key sits in your browser storage, only the extension background worker reads it, and your provider bills you directly. That is also why one verdict costs about five hundredths of a cent instead of a subscription.

Does it work on every video?

It needs a transcript. Videos without captions in any language cannot be read, and Flashines tells you that instead of guessing. Home feed only in this version.

What language is the answer in?

The language spoken in the video, not the language of the title. Czech video with an English clickbait title gets a Czech verdict.

What does Flashines know about me?

Nothing leaves your machine except the transcript request and the model call, both with your keys. Usage counters are local and video ids are hashed.
